President Biden addresses the nation after the bombings of Kabul airport

Two bombs exploded in front of Kabul airport on Thursday, killing 12 US soldiers and 60 Afghans. Over 100 others are said to have been injured in the explosion, some of the injured are being treated by US forces at the airport. The explosion temporarily halted the ongoing evacuation of American citizens and allies from Afghanistan, but on Thursday afternoon General Kenneth McKenzie held a press conference speaking of what was known about the explosions and the ongoing threat from the terrorist group ISIS-K.

President Biden is expected to make a statement at 5 p.m. ET, then White House press secretary Jen Psaki will answer questions. Daily Kos will follow this press conference.
