Federal investigators are investigating Rudy’s hyperlinks with Turkish lobbyists

Bloomberg says that while this is a fresh look at possible dubious lobbying by Giuliani, it is not a criminal investigation like the investigation in Ukraine. It seems that the Justice Ministry is only interested in finding out why Giuliani forgot to correctly register as a lobbyist when he was actually acting for the Turkish government. But it’s an important investigation as it could force Giuliani to legally stipulate what his jobs have been over the past few years in relation to the interests of other countries versus the interests of the United States. “If the government decides that Giuliani acted out of foreign interest, it could issue a letter of assessment asking him to register as a lobbyist and disclose all details of his contacts with US and Turkish officials regarding Zarrab and Gülen . “

Lobbying Turkey, however, means more than just trying what to do about a few sanctions. One of the problems Turkey faced while Zarrab was in federal custody was that he was allegedly singing like a canary to the then Turkish Prime Minister and current President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan possible links to the laundry. Giuliani seems to have successfully got Zarrab out of the fire with a plea deal. The Turkish bank Halkbank was apparently not so lucky – it was indicted in October 2019 with “Federal Prosecutors’ Undermining US Sanctions Against Iran.

Of course, it was later revealed that even before the Zarrab deal went down and the Trump administration replaced earlier ones US prosecutor Preet Bharara, who brought charges against Zarrab, and disgraced national security advisor Michael Flynn also coordinated with Turkish officials. Flynn’s dirty job was working on a “dead night” operation to bypass the US extradition process, with it Erdoğan wants to get his hands on Muslim clergy Fethullah Gülen, the Erdoğan is accused of orchestrating a failed military coup against him.

It remains to be seen whether Giuliani’s Ukraine investigations (that’s at least two federal investigations into Giuliani’s Ukrainian business) will in any way be dovetailed with this Turkish investigation. Whether the pressure to spend the rest of his miserable days in court will no longer be the tyrant he once was will cause Giuliani to finally spill the beans and tell federal investigators how much more Donald Trump has in his many Corruption was involved or not The administration is in the air too. One thing is certain: Rudy deserves it all.
